Using Lao with Adobe InDesign

Lao Unicode OpenType fonts can be used without difficulty with recent versions of Adobe InDesign. The main point to remember is that in order that diacritic vowels and tone marks are positioned correctly in formatted documents it is important to select either the Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer or the Adobe World-Ready Single-line Composer, not a default composer.

Adobe InDesign CC fully supports selection of variable stroke weight and other features in the new (2021) Lao fonts SengBuhan and Saysettha Mai.

The Lao Add-In for Adobe InDesign has not been maintained and (from 2019) is no longer supported. It is still included as an option when installing LaoScript 8 but no assistance can be provided for using it.
