Entering and Editing Lao Text

LaoScript 8 supports entry and editing of Lao text for either Unicode or non-Unicode (Saysettha Lao coded) fonts, using either either the standard (modified Lao typewriter) keyboard layout, or an easy to learn and type romanized-entry keying sequence. In normal use, invisible break codes will be automatically inserted between words to support Lao text wrapping.

The different options available for entering Lao text may be controlled from the User settings... dialog, which is opened from the main LaoScript 8 taskbar icon menu.

The Lao font that is used (either selected by the user, or automatically by the application, must be compatible with the current Keyboard input coding. If not, change the font, or change the input coding in User settings....

When using Microsoft Word (or other MS Office applications), you may need to set both the Latin text font and Complex script font to the wanted font, using the Font dialog, since setting the font using the dropdown font list in the toolbar does not always set both font selection properties correctly for using Lao fonts.

Lao keyboard mapping is enabled or disabled from the LaoScript 8 Menu attached to the taskbar icon, or by using the Lao on/off hotkey. This hotkey is set as Pause during installation, but can be changed if another key combination is preferred. (See Advanced User Settings")
