Notes on embedding Lao fonts in web pages

• While almost all modern browsers accept embedded fonts, different browsers accept different font formats. To be readable on as many different browsers and devices as possible, you should include all four font formats (TTF, WOFF, EOT and SVG). The font-face command in the attached stylesheet is the most reliable way of allowing each browser to download and use the appropriate font format. Note that the EOT format is only used by Internet Explorer 8 (and earlier) and will probably not be needed in the future. The SVG format (by far the largest file size) is used mainly by older mobile devices.
• For Saysettha Web, only one style has been provided, to keep file download sizes as small as possible. However, note that on some devices (e.g. iPad), text using the automatically generated bold style is unclear, so for headings it is better to use a larger font size than boldface.
• On some web servers (such as IIS), each different file type that can be distributed needs to be separately enabled, so it may be necessary to configure your server for the four font file types.
• Note that Saysettha Web (unlike Saysettha OT and many other Lao fonts) centers mai eek over the associated Lao consonant, following currently accepted practice.
